I looked up the Hungarian translations on Wikipedia, apparently there have been many translators who used different names, here is a partial list (Asterix and Obelix of course stay):

• Idefix (the dog): Mirnixdirnix (doesn’t make any sense), apparently in some translations Kutyagumix, which means „dogturdix”
• Panoramix (the druid): Magicoturmix („turmix” is the usual name for any beverage that is made from several ingredients, e.g. a fruit shake, I don’t have to explain the rest)
• Abracourcix (the chieftain): Hasarengazfix. The word „fix” means something like „definitely” in Hungarian („fixe” in French has a similar meaning I believe, like in idée fixe), so Hasarengazfix means „his belly shakes for certain”, an allusion to the chief’s portly figure .
• Assurancetourix (the bard): Hangjanix. „Hang” means „voice” in Hungarian, „hangja” is „his/her voice”, so this means „has no voice”.
• Ordralfabétix (the fishmonger): Messesaglix. In Hungarian, „s” is pronounced „sch”, but here you have to read it like in English or Italian, and then it means „stinksfarix”.
• Agecanonix, the old guy with the young wife: Sokadikix (the manieth X, i.e. has lived many decades)
• The blacksmith who always threatens the bard is called „Vasökölix”, which means „ironfistix”.

A few episodic protagonists with very good name translations:

• López de Futastán y Ramodón (when you pronounce it, it will become the sentence „Lop ez, de fut aztán iramodón”, which means approximately „This steals, but then runs fast”), and apparently this is a Spanish gangster figure
• Hamarelmész Hamexász (pronounced like „hamar elmész ha megszállsz”, which means „you will leave soon if you stay”, a Greek inn-keeper)
• Kosztasz Fenerosz (Greek restaurateur, „koszt az fene rossz” means „food is terribly bad”)
• Quibelez de Saporán (pron. „kibelez, de szaporán”, „will disembowel you, but fast” – Spanish warrior)
